Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • 8 thick slices bread brioche preferred
  • Maple syrup and/or powdered sugar for serving

Equipment

  • Shallow dish
  • Whisk
  • Nonstick skillet or griddle
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, turning gently to coat both sides evenly without oversoaking.
  4. Place the coated bread slices onto the hot skillet and cook until the underside becomes golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until evenly browned and cooked through.
  5. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning while ensuring the inside cooks properly. Continue cooking in batches, adding more butter or oil to the pan as needed.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or your favorite toppings.
